Combats

 
After multiple restarts and treks throughout Krondor I discovered there must be a set number of random combats for Chapters 0 through 3. To date the total for an Easy/Balanced game is 78. I started a medium and hard game and gave them up later on since the purpose was more for loot research than anything else. The experience points you receive from the combats decrease as the difficulty level increases so perhaps you may get say 2 waves of opponents for a medium setting and perhaps 3 waves of opponents for a hard setting. If anyone out there is feeling real frisky use the log and have a go at the medium or hard settings and see if this 78 is all there is or if there can be more. Of course you'll need to print out more than one copy of the log just in case since it is set up with the 78 in mind. The combat types remained exactly the same through the four chapters. The differences being certain combat types did not load in specific room types, they increased in difficulty and you gained more experience and better items in the higher chapters.  Look at Combat Results for more specifics on how the combat types load.
 
In my latest experiments I took a single save game where I had just picked up Jaz and took all the combats in Chapter 0, then restored from the this same file and took all the combats in Chapter 1. I continued to do this until I worked my way through Chapter 3. Then I went back and restored from this very same file and did this all over again. Now this I did about 6 times because I wanted to see if I would get the same loot off these combats as I had before. I met with some very interesting results and was able to form some conclusions.
